EMPLOYERS: Would you like to work with us?

We are constantly looking to expand our network of companies and employers that we work with to support the delivery of our careers education.

If you feel you have the capacity and are interested in supporting a particular curriculum subject area, or would be willing to attend a careers-related event or provide a careers lunchtime drop-in clinic to speak to students in a more informal setting, if you are a business or local group and would like to know more, please contact the Careers Leader.

TRAINING PROVIDERS: Work with us to provide students with additional information on technical qualifications and apprenticeships.

Here at The West Grantham Church of England Secondary Academy we are always looking for representatives from training organisations, further and higher education and technical colleges, together with apprenticeship providers who are willing to come into the academy and work with our students.

If you would like to work with us and feel able to support our students and are not yet working with our school, please contact the Careers Leader.

All requests from providers will be considered and are subject to the availability of rooms. The academy will make the main hall, classrooms or private meeting rooms available for discussions between the provider and students, as appropriate to the activity. The school will also make available audio-visual and other specialist equipment to support the provider presentations where possible. This will be discussed and agreed in advance of the visit with the Careers Leader.

We kindly request that all providers working with our academy are GDPR compliant.

We would also like to invite providers to leave a copy of their prospectus or course literature in the academy library. This area is available to all students at lunch and break times.

STAFF: All staff have been introduced to a range of careers and work-related resources aimed at supporting delivery of our ‘World of Work’ initiative in their subject areas. Bringing them in to line with Gatsby benchmark 4 – linking curriculum learning to careers. Resources include subject lesson plans and posters which show a range of careers linked to specific subjects.

Teaching and support staff are regularly involved in supporting careers and enterprise activities during dedicated drop days or timetabled events and also provide on-going support to students with regard to progression routes and choices after school.

Tutors in particular have an important role in helping to raise students’ aspirations and providing information and advice about possible pathways after school. Academy staff should be able to signpost students to our careers resources area in the library and the Careers Leader. If further support with careers, linked to your subject area please contact the Careers Leader, Miss Hannah Lines on 01476 405200.
