The Year 9 and 10 girls’ football team have played their first match in the ESFA small schools cup against Stamford Welland Academy.

West Grantham started fast, taking the lead inside the opening two minutes through a well taken goal from Tracey Oliviera.  However this seemed to galvanise the opposition who grew into the game, pressing forward and reaping the rewards of some great team play to take a 2-1 lead into half time. Stamford’s lead came under threat repeatedly in the second half, but despite having the lions share of possession and carving out some excellent chances, it was not to be and the game ended Stamford Welland 2 – 1 West Grantham. 

The students represented the Acdemy impeccably – well done to the whole team!
