‘Pupils appreciate that the food on offer during the school day is thoughtfully planned, skillfully prepared, nutritious and of excellent quality’, Ofsted, January 2024.

The Academy has its own ‘in-house’ catering service. Using the expertise of a professional chef, the leadership team of the academy took this decision to support us in our vision to run a catering service that provides fresh, healthy and filling meals to our students.

We have fresh bread delivered every morning and our suppliers and butchers provide high quality meat, vegetables and fruit. We limit the use of frozen products and all our meals are cooked from scratch with fresh healthy ingredients.

We provide filling meals that are nutritious and tasty for our students, and in recent years have seen a positive increase in the take up of our healthier food offer following the removal of all junk foods from our menus.

Our menus have been developed in consultation with the Lincolnshire County Council School Food Education Team and we are delighted to have been awarded our School Standards Compliant certification, demonstrating that our catering provision is compliant with the government’s School Food Standards.

For £2.50 students can buy a nutritional main meal of the day and dessert. Students also have access to free cold drinking water.

We have reduced our food offer at break time and offer smaller, healthier snacks that are fruit or oat based. This is for two reasons; we want students to opt into the free breakfast scheme and fill up before lessons start and we then want them to have access to a smaller, healthier snack at break but be hungry at lunch for a healthy, filling meal.
