The DfE have announced that FSM families will be supported by a voucher scheme.  Vouchers will be emailed to all FSM families, where possible, to be redeemed on a weekly basis at a local supermarket.  The admin team are calling all families to verify their email addresses.  If your child is eligible for a FSM and you have changed your email address recently please email this to BMA-Admin@bluecoatmeres.co.uk.

More information on the voucher scheme is available on this link.

Update 18 March 2020

Partial school closure for students in Years 8, 9 and 10 from Thursday 19 March until Friday 3 April

I am informing you that as a result of a number of absences due to staff self-isolating for 14 days because of the Coronavirus outbreak that we will no longer be able to remain fully open to all year groups.

For Years 8, 9 and 10 we will close from tomorrow, Thursday 19 March until the end of term on Friday 3 April.

We will remain open for Year 7 and Year 11 though this will be reviewed on a daily basis dependent upon staff absences or advice received from the Department of Education or Public Health England.

Whilst we remain partially open the students in Years 8, 9 and 10 who are entitled to free school meals will be able to come into school at lunchtime from 1.20pm until 2.00pm to have a free-school meal. They will be asked to sign in and out at the main school reception and will have to leave by the end of lunch time. Those students who come into school for their meal will be expected to wear full school uniform.

Please be aware that at the present time we are not aware of any student or member of staff being diagnosed with Coronavirus.

For students in Year 11 who will be sitting their GCSE exams this summer the current advice from the exam boards is that students should continue to work as normal on their preparations for the exams. It is very important that students follow this advice because even if the exams are delayed by a short period they will still go ahead and students will need to be fully prepared for this eventuality. We will keep you informed of any changes to the exam dates as we become aware of them.

Work has been prepared for all students in the event of a long term academy closure and this can be accessed on the school website on this link: https://www.wgacademy.org.uk/learning/homework/

The work that has been set will be updated on a regular basis. Students in Year 11 will be able to email members of staff, using school email addresses only, should they need clarification or support with any of the work that has been set.  If you have any other queries, please email the main academy by email to office@bluecoatmeres.co.uk.

These are difficult and challenging times for everyone and I hope that through working together and supporting others within our community that we will be able to return to normality in the near future.

Please keep checking the school website for any updates or changes to the information I have given. At the present time school should re-open to all students after the Easter holidays on Monday 20 April.

Many thanks in anticipation of your support in this matter.
