Year 10 v Charles Read Academy (1-1)

The first fixture of the season to be played on home turf saw the spoils shared and both teams walk away with their heads rightly held high.  It was proved to be a well fought and exhilarating game of football. WGSA started brightly and from the off took the game to their opponents and for a team thrown together without having played competitively as a group before, you’d have thought they would take time to gel but it was in fact it was quite the opposite. Flowing football, intricate passing moves and individual brilliance was on display and in a tight game where play ebbed and flowed throughout, Harrison Unsworth’s individual virtuoso goal proved enough secure an undefeated start to the season for year 10.

Year 9 v Charles Read Academy (1-6)

The second meeting of the season for these two sides saw a reversal of fortunes that saw WGSA come out second best on this occasion. From the off Charles Read proved to be the stronger side pushing forward in wave after wave of attack, WGSA stood strong for some time but eventually their defences were breached and for the remainder of the first half the flood gates were open. In the second half however, WGSA managed to steady the ship, score a goal of their own and finish the game with the upper hand and plenty to build upon moving forward into their next fixture.

Year 7 v Charles Read Academy (5-1)

The year 7 football team, travelled to Charles Read on Wednesday 25 February and put in a fantastic performance to come away with a 5-1 win.
The team started well in the opening exchanges and some excellent team passing opened up the home side and Conor Cuttle scored. WGSA let the home team back in the game and the first half finished 1-1, with Cayden Moulson pilling off 3 excellent saves to keep the game level. After the interval WGSA took control with Conor Cuttle completing a hat-trick and one each for Ethan Elliot and Theo CondonMason Middleton ran midfield in the second half backed in defence by the reliable George Jackson.
