FEMALE TEACHER OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION (with ability to teach a second subject)

Plus, the opportunity of Head of Department responsibilities for the right candidate

Salary               MPS/UPS plus a TLR allowance of £3,527 (if Head of Department responsibilities are awarded)

Start Date:        As soon as possible

Contract:          Full time, Permanent

We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic female Teacher of Physical Education to join our dedicated and successful PE department. The successful candidate will play a key role in the planning and delivery of high-quality PE lessons and contribute to our extensive extra-curricular sports programme.

This post is subject to a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) that the post holder is female, as permitted under Schedule 9, Part 1, of the Equality Act 2010. This is because the role involves:

Providing personal care, supervision, and instruction to female pupils in situations where they are likely to be in a state of undress or using single sex changing facilities and showers.

The requirement for the pupils to be taught by a female teacher in these specific circumstances is a proportionate means of achieving the legitimate aim of preserving the privacy, dignity, and welfare of our female students.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach core PE at Key Stages 3 and 4 leading to examined courses at  GCSE and BTEC level.

Application deadline:           11:59pm on Thursday 27 November 2025

Love the school you work at.  Feel valued and part of a team.  Teach for 4 days and get paid for 5

The West Grantham Church of England Secondary Academy was awarded Good with Outstanding features at its last inspection (January 2024).  The school is described as an ‘oasis of trust and calm’ with ‘exemplary behaviour’.   We are also delighted that our recent inspection recognised the school as ‘welcoming and truly inclusive’ where ‘ambition is a key value’.

Due to an increase in pupil numbers, we are now looking for more teaching staff to join our team and we look for people with a strong moral compass who want to make a significant difference to children’s lives through strong teaching and excellent pastoral care.  Our leadership team is visible and approachable, with a constant focus on the wellbeing and continued professional development for every member of staff.

Alongside this, we can also provide:

  • Flexible working and a 4 day-week opt-in programme
  • An electric car work scheme
  • Staff assistance programme
  • Free breakfast for staff
  • A fully comprehensive ECT programme.

We encourage visits to our school, before application, to see the school in action.  Please email the Executive Principal, Clare Barber, to arrange a visit.

Please submit completed applications to the Bursar HR, Estelle Sharpe
